Chief Compliance Officer of European Bank for Reconstruction and Development Visits Dentons Beijing Office

On April 28, 2016, Lisa Rosen, chief compliance officer of the European Bank for Reconstruction and Development (“EBRD”), visited Dentons Beijing office. She was received by senior partner Deng Zhisong, one of the heads of Dentons China Region’s antitrust practice, and associate Zhao Zhongxing. Lisa was on a business trip to China to attend B20 China Anti-corruption Forum held in Beijing.

Deng exchanged ideas with Lisa on China’s anti-corruption legislation, anti-trust compliance issues, anti-commercial bribery practice, and due diligence and compliance in cross-border investment and M&A cases.

EBRD, owned by 65 countries and two EU institutions, aims to help and support Central European and East Asian countries to build market economies. Lisa said EBRD attached great importance to compliance and integrity in every stages of investment and finance and project building and operation; the bank would work with professional agencies to conduct due diligence over project funds and key project participants.

Lisa further mentioned that if China officially became an EBRD member, Chinese enterprises would likely be involved in project investment and finance and construction engineering. She expressed her hope to build a working relationship with Dentons China Region to guarantee compliance of relevant projects.
