Conference on Overseas Chinese Pioneering and Developing in China is one of the most important affairs for overseas Chinese. The conference, guided by the Organization Department of the CPC Central Committee, co-hosted by Overseas Chinese Affairs Office of the State Council, the People’s Government of Hubei Province, and the People’s Government of Wuhan, and based in mid-China, aims to attract excellent overseas Chinese talents and capital to China.

Founded in 2001, the conference has become one of the three platforms designated by the Organization Department of the CPC Central Committee to serve the purpose of attracting overseas Chinese talents. It has also become an effective platform for improving local economy and fostering entrepreneurship of overseas Chinese. In July, the conference was again held in Hubei, the fifteenth time for it to be held in this province.

One of the conference sessions, which focused on cross-border investment, was held by Dacheng’s Chicago, Taiwan, and Wuhan offices. The session was hosted by Doctor Huang Zhengdong from the Chicago office and speakers included Zareefa B. Flener, managing partner of US-based Flener IP Law, Doctor Wei Yilong and Doctor Lu Shangqian from Dacheng’s Taiwan office, senior partner Wei Shirong and partner Zhang Hongtao from Dacheng’s Qingdao office, and Doctor Liu Nanping, founding partner of Liu & Wang, Attorney at Law. Participating guests from home and abroad exchanged ideas on opportunities and strategies in cross-border investment, merger and acquisition, and services.

The session was held under the background of the new normal in Chinese economy. Enterprises and industries in China, faced with deep-level reform and transformation and upgrading, are required to implement the “going-out” strategy, make full use of the domestic and international markets and resources, actively take part in international competition, and integrate global industry chain in an all-round manner, so as to improve enterprises’ creativity and international competitiveness and push forward their transformation and upgrading.
