On November 17, 2014, Duke Kunshan University was official launched. Dacheng senior partner Wang Jie was invited to the launching ceremony, which was also attended by Cao Weixing, vice-governor of Jiangsu province, Cen Jianjun, head of Department of International Cooperation and Exchange of Ministry of Education, He Zhi, the US envoy to China and Press and Cultural Counsellor, Richard Brodhead, president of Duke University, Li Xiaohong, president of Wuhan University, Liu Jingnan, president of Duke Kunshan University, Wang Hongsheng, vice mayor of Suzhou, and officials from the government of Kunshan such as Guan Aiguo, Lu Jun, Jiang Hao, Jin Ming and Jin Naibing.
Wang’s team, which also included attorney Liu Qian, associate Zhao Xiaochen and paralegal Mi Yuan, advised Duke Kunshan University on the creation of a school foundation. Liu Jingnan, chancellor of Duke Kunshan University and academician of Chinese Academy of Engineering, awarded Dacheng a trophy and expressed willingness to continue cooperation with Dacheng.
Duke Kunshan University is founded jointly by Wuhan University, US-based Duke University and the government of Kunshan in September 2013, with approval from the Ministry of Education of China. Currently, 103 students from thirteen countries and regions have enrolled in the university, which aims to build itself into a world-leading elite institute of higher education. The university pioneers the endeavor of jointly creating a new university by a comprehensive Chinese university under Project 985 and a world’s top university.
Duke University is constantly ranked as a top 10 university in the US. In “2012-2013 U.S. News & World Report”, it was ranked 8th amongst US-based comprehensive universities and 19th amongst comprehensive universities in the world. It is particularly known for its medical school, Fuqua School of Business and the law school.
