Dentons lawyer shortlisted for the "Australia China Alumni of the Year Award"

Dentons senior partner Chambers (Chunbao) Yang has for a second year in a row been nominated for the "Australia China Alumni of the Year Award".

This award is the most prestigious award among the eight annual awards of the Australia China Alumni Association (ACAA). It assesses the nominees' all-round distinction in work, life and community services and aims to recognize an Australian alumna/alumnus who work or live in China and has demonstrated excellence in her/his professional career and/or through charitable activities. The finalists for this award will have established themselves as leaders in their chosen fields, and will also have made significant contributions to the social development of Australia or China. They shall be honest and passionate, dare to innovate and value education. They will show how getting educated in Australia has been helping them achieve excellence in their industry.

Mr. Yang has been successively identified by China Business Law Journal as one of China’s A-List 100 Lawyers, listed in "China M&A Lawyer Award 2018" by Lawyer Monthly, awarded many times as Finance Monthly’s Award on TMT Lawyer of China and Award on M&A Lawyer of China as well as the other professional awards, listed as “Recommended Lawyer” by Asia Pacific Legal 500 and Asia Law Profiles for many years. Therefore, he was shortlisted for the 2018 "Australia China Alumni of the Year Award". The finalists for this award in this year are mostly foreigners or Hong Kong residents, while Mr. Yang is the only Chinese mainland resident.

In 2007, the ACAA was established in Beijing with the support of the Australian Ambassador to China. As a non-for-profit organization, the ACAA is supported by the Australian government and more than 20 universities in Australia. It is open to and serves all China-based alumni of Australian universities and provides a variety of services, programs and events, including its annual flagship Australia China Alumni Awards, Mentor program, Alumni Welcome Back Receptions, Career Development Events and Industry Discussion Forums. According to incomplete statistics, currently there are nearly 200,000 Australian alumni living in China.
