Nantong-based Attorney Awarded Outstanding Youth Volunteer of Jiangsu

Recently, attorney Lu Chenghong of Dacheng’s Nantong-based office was awarded “Outstanding Youth Volunteer of Jiangsu” by Jiangsu Province Committee of China Communist Youth League and Jiangsu Volunteers Association.

Over the past ten years as an attorney, Lu has always been offering pro bono services to citizens in Nantong. Since 2009, Lu has been giving lectures to inmates at Nantong Women’s Prison every other month. She once travelled to a place far away from Nantong to settle a case involving one of the inmates. From July 2009 to present, she constantly appears on “Shuofa”(“Legal Issues”), a radio program of Nantong that specifically addresses legal disputes and issues. From January 2013, the Nantong radio station launched another program named “Kongzhong da tiaojie” (“Resolve Disputes on Air”), where Lu offers legal counsel and imparts knowledge about the law to the audience. Also from January 2013, Lu has been answering calls from “12348”, a legal service hotline based in Nantong. She has spent more than 400 hours to answer a total of 800 calls during the past year. Lu also volunteers in legal assistance initiatives launched at city squares.

The award in question is an acknowledgement of her relentless efforts over the years in fostering harmony and peace in Nantong.
