Dacheng Retained as Standing Legal Counsel for the Forestry Department of Jiangxi

A standing legal counsel agreement was recently inked by the Forestry Department of Jiangxi Province and attorneys Xiao Ping and Peng Dingdai from Dacheng’s Nanchang office.

The Forestry Department of Jiangxi comprises 12 separate offices and administers 25 government-funded public institutions. It plays primarily a regulatory and supervisory role in relation to the province’s forestry and ecology. Specifically, the department is responsible for organizing, guiding, coordinating and supervising efforts of afforestation and greening, administering and supervising the protection and exploitation of forest resources, terrestrial and wild lives and natural reserves. The department also shoulders the responsibility to push forward reform in the forestry sector, protect farmers’ legitimate rights and interests in exploiting forestry, lay down development plans and policies forthe industry, guide the establishment and implementation of eco-compensation systems,conduct technological, educational and foreign exchanges in relation to forestry and ecological development, as well as personnel development. What’s more, it also supervises law enforcement and the handling of important violations, assists agencies such as the Greening Committee of Jiangxi, the Forest Fire Management Office of the Provincial Government of Jiangxi as well as the government of Jiangxi itself in the mediation of forest ownership disputes.

Attorneys from Dacheng would act for the Forestry Department of Jiangxi in negotiations in key projects, review contracts on its behalf, represent the department in administrative litigations and reviews and offer legal training for the department and subordinate institutions.
