On February 21 2012, the 2011 Annual Conference of Yunnan Society of Southeast Asia Studies was held in Kunming. The conference aimed to explore key issues related to countries bordering Yunnan and push forward the development of the Society. Leaders such as director of Yunnan Federation of Social Sciences and Ministry of Commerce commissioners to Yunnan attended the conference.
At the conference, president and vice presidents of the Society and leaders of Yunnan Federation of Social Sciences delivered speeches on the Society’s work and development opportunities of Yunnan as the link between China and the Southeast Asia. Attorney Ma Wei, director of Dacheng Kunming office was appointed vice president of the Society. Mr. Ma declared his willingness to further tap the potential of Yunnan-based attorneys in international legal service market and devotion to pushing the cause of opening up of Yunnan as a bridgehead to Southeast Asia and working jointly with the Society for the common growth and prosperity of China and ASEAN.
