Dacheng Retained as Standing Legal Counsel for Mi Band Producer

On July 2, 2015, a Dacheng team consisting of senior partner Ji Min, and associates Hu Baohua and Chen Nianbin were retained by Anhui Huami Information Technology Co., Ltd. (“Huami Technology”), the Mi band manufacturer, as the company’s standing legal counsel. The team would advise Huami Technology on important decision-making, operation and management, and compliance issues.

Founded in January 2014, Huami Technology, a smart wearable devices producer, is the only mobile internet company in Xiaomi’s “ecological chain”. An internet service giant, it is also one of the top three smart wristband producers in the world and the largest in China. Huami Technology is a USD fund-invested hi-tech startup structured as a standard VIE, with subsidiaries in Hefei, Beijing, and the Silicon Valley. In 2014, the company received investment from Xiaomi Inc., Shunwei Capital, Banyan Capital, Sequoia Capital, and Morningside Ventures, and it was valued at US$300mln. On November 11, 2014, 103,000 Mi bands produced by Huami Technology were sold on a single day via Tmall.com, topping the site’s sales list of smart wristbands. The Mi band is the knock-out product among Xiaomi’s product series.

The Dacheng team will help prepare Huami Technology for an eventual offshore listing.
