Dacheng Advises Alpha Animation on Strategic Partnership and Investment with Hollywood Movie Giant

On November 3, 2014, Alpha Animation Co., Ltd. (“Alpha Animation”) announced that it had formed a long-term strategic partnership with Hollywood’s New Regency Productions, Inc. and would invest no more than US$60mln in three Hollywood blockbusters, i.e., “Assassins’ Creed”, “Splinter Cell” and “The Spirit”, which would all be produced by New Regency Productions. Crew of the movies features: Doug Liman, a renowned American action movie director and producer best known for “The Bourne Identity” and “Mr. & Mrs. Smith”; Golden Hugo award-winning director Justin Kurzel; Hollywood superstar Leonardo DiCaprio; and Michael Fassbender, who played the role “Magneto” in “X-Men”. Alpha Animation would share profits from the global distribution of these movies and would have the exclusive distribution rights and relevant merchandizing rights of the movies in Greater China. 

Los Angeles-based New Regency Productions, one of the top culture and entertainment companies in Hollywood, has produced a number of classics, including “Fight Club and”, “Mr. & Mrs. Smith” and “City of Angels”. Apart from movies, its range of business also covers television, animation and sports. Arnon Milchan, founder of New Regency Productions, is the most productive and successful independent American movie maker in the past 30 years.
