IP Cases Represented by Dacheng Attorneys Selected Top Ten by Beijing Higher People’s Court

Recently, Beijing Higher People’s Court announced the 2011 Top Ten IP Cases in Beijing, amongst which two were represented by Dacheng’s attorneys. The first one, handled by attorney Tong Jie from Dacheng’s IP practice, centered on the right of authorship over Anshun Local Opera, a state-level intangible cultural heritage, while the other one, represented by attorney Tao Xinliang with participation of attorney Tong Jie, focused on copyright infringement over Founder Qianti Font.

The ten cases were selected from IP cases concluded in 2011 at all levels of courts in Beijing, which also included the 3Q war (Qihoo 360 vs. Tencent) over unfair competition practices and infringement of trademark of Kaixin001 and unfair competition. The cases covered a wide range of areas, such as web culture, folk art, e-commerce and font designs, with five related to copyright infringement and five directly or indirectly involving Internet practices.
