On the occasion of the 3rd China International Import Expo, a major foreign investment project settled in Shanghai. The signing ceremony for the Shanghai Legoland Resort project has been held in Shanghai recently. The Jinshan District People's Government, British-based Merlin Entertainments Group, Denmark-based LEGO Group and Chinese Culture Group completed the signing through online and offline interaction. Gong Zheng (Deputy Secretary of the CPC Shanghai Committee and Mayor) and Zong Ming (Deputy Mayor) witnessed the signing.

The Shanghai Legoland Resort is located in Fengjing Town, Jinshan District, with an investment of US$550 million. It will integrate elements of Chinese culture, Shanghai culture and distinctive features of the south of the Yangtze River. The world-class creative, design, and construction teams will use sound, light and other technologies to create an immersive theme park with story themes. To enable the Shanghai style elements in the resort to take root in the hearts of the people, designers will draw inspiration from famous attractions in Shanghai, Fengjing Town in Jinshan District and surrounding cities in the Yangtze River Delta to build a landmark architectural attraction. This project is expected to start construction in 2021, and the resort will officially open at the beginning of 2024. By then, it will become one of the largest Legoland resorts in the world.
