Dentons advises Paul Smith on business expansion in China

Recently, the famous British luxury brand Paul Smith has set up a wholly-owned subsidiary in China and completed the restructuring of its businesses in China. Dentons Shanghai senior partner Emilia Shi and partner Ken Dai provided a full scope legal assistance on this deal, including reviewing and revising the transaction documents such as asset and business transfer agreements and distribution agreements, and preparing the application files for establishing a domestic company. After closing the deal, Paul Smith will independently operate its offline businesses in China.

In 1976, British designer Paul Smith released his first brand named "Paul Smith" in Paris. After decades of development, Paul Smith has gradually established its position in the British and global fashion industry. As of FY2017, Paul Smith has gained global sales of £189.4 million, becoming one of the leaders in the luxury industry. The reorganization of its business in China is also another important step in expanding its global strategic presence.
