Dacheng Honored Excellent IP Service Provider for Zhongguancun Science Park

In November 2014, an IP service team led by Wang Weidong, senior partner and head of Beijing office’s IP department, was honored “2013 Excellent IP Service Provider for Zhongguancun Science Park” by Beijing Intellectual Property Office and the Management Committee of Beijing Zhongguancun Science Park, after an evaluation of performance of all legal service providers for the Park. The IP team led by Wang is committed to assisting hi-tech enterprises in the Park in protection against patent invalidity and infringement, patent risk precautions and analysis. The team won the first place in the performance evaluation.

The honor came after Dacheng was awarded one of the first “National Model IP Analysis and Review Institutions” (Dacheng was the only law firm to win such honor) by State Intellectual Property Office in 2013 and “IP Management Standard Promotion and Tutoring Institution for Beijing-based Enterprises” and was selected member of Zhongguancun IP Service Association, the first IP service association in China.

Zhongguancun Science Park is the first national-level independent innovation demonstration zone and the most intelligence- and talent-intensive place in China. It is composed of 16 branch parks located in Dongcheng District, Xicheng District, Chaoyang District, Haidian District, Fengtai District, Shijingshan District, etc., supported by over 40 colleges and universities, including Peking University and Tsinghua University, 206 national (municipal) scientific research institutions such as the Chinese Academy of Sciences and the Chinese Academy of Engineering, nearly 30,000 hi-tech enterprises, 233 of which are public companies. In 2013, Zhongguocun generated more than RMB3.05tn in revenue, or over 20% of the GDP in Beijing. It is regarded an important market with huge potential opportunities for IP services.

Dacheng’s IP team is commissioned by Zhongguancun Intellectual Property Promotion Office to take charge of the organization, operation and information maintenance of “IP Legal Service” section, one of the six online sections to be launched by the promotion office. The team serves as a bridge between Dacheng and thousands of hi-tech enterprises based in the Park.
