Karina Furga-Dąbrowska appointed Advisory Board Member of the Mindful Workplace Community

Karina Furga-Dąbrowska, Europe Chief Mindfulness Officer and Partner at Dentons, has been appointed a member of the Advisory Board for the Mindful Workplace Community (MWC). This appointment reflects her profound involvement in promoting and teaching mindfulness in the workplace in her role as Europe Chief Mindfulness Officer at Dentons. Her appointment is for a fixed term of one year, with the possibility of renewal for a second term.

MWC is an international, professional network for champions of mindfulness in the workplace, established and governed by the Mindfulness Initiative (MI), a UK-registered education charity. The Advisory Board is a new body established to help MWC move into the next phase of growth and development. Its primary focus is to advise the organization’s directors on how they can achieve the objectives, set out in the MWC’s Charter, to: “explore, develop and promote the sustainable application of mindfulness in the workplace; by connecting professionals who are actively championing, commissioning and delivering workplace mindfulness training and by facilitating inquiry, peer support and sharing of best practice.” The Board will also offer general guidance and it will challenge any actions or decisions that may not be in line with the objectives of the MWC.

“I feel truly honored to serve as a member of the MWC Advisory Board together with other mindfulness teachers and leaders from prominent international organizations,” commented Karina Furga-Dąbrowska. “I look forward to bringing to the Board not only my enthusiasm about implementing mindfulness training in the workplace, but also knowledge and practical skills grounded in my own mindfulness practice, education and experience in introducing a global law firm to mindfulness.”

After over 20 years in the corporate environment ‒ 12 as a partner at Dentons ‒ Karina Furga-Dąbrowska has developed a passion for bringing mindfulness to organizations. She initiated and implemented the groundbreaking NextMind program at Dentons, helping the Firm’s lawyers and professionals to reduce stress, improve well-being, and develop emotional intelligence through mindfulness techniques. Her NextMind project was highly commended in the FT Innovative Lawyers Europe Awards 2019 in the “Managing and Developing Talent” category. NextMind has been progressively embedded into Dentons’ global strategy and has become a cornerstone of its global talent program, NextTalent.

“I believe that mindfulness practice has the power to unleash human potential and to promote wellbeing in the modern workplace. My mission is to transform organizations into truly mindful workplaces and to nurture a working culture where high performance is based on compassionate leadership, authenticity, appreciation, honesty, openness and respect,” she added.

Furga-Dąbrowska has been a lawyer in Dentons’ Tax and Life Sciences groups since 2006, and a partner since 2008. In addition to her legal education, she has completed Mindfulness-Based Cognitive Therapy (MBCT) teacher training in the UCSD Center for Mindfulness. She has also completed numerous teacher training programs at the Oxford Mindfulness Centre including Mindfulness in the Workplace, Mindfulness – Finding Peace in a Frantic World, the Search Inside Yourself program developed by Google, and Mindful Self-Compassion and MSC@Work. Currently, she is enrolled on the Inner MBA, a nine-month online immersion into the personal and professional dimensions of high performance at work – a program developed by New York University, Wisdom 2.0, LinkedIn and Sounds True.
