Real estate partner elected to membership of Royal Institution of Chartered Surveyors

Dentons Kensington Swan is delighted to announce that our Auckland Managing Partner, Matthew Ockleston, has been elected a member of the prestigious Royal Institution of Chartered Surveyors (RICS). Matthew is a highly experienced real estate lawyer with an infrastructure specialty.

RICS is a global professional institution which promotes and enforces the highest international standards in the development and management of land, real estate, construction and infrastructure. Their work provides a foundation for confident markets and is a force for positive social impact.

Internationally very few real estate lawyers are chartered surveyors, so Matthew’s appointment is rare recognition of his practice and profile. He is a specialist in “public land law”– a transactional and advisory practice covering land law issues for government agencies, including land acquisition and compensation under the Public Works Act, property management, disposal of surplus land under various statutory processes, and roading and public infrastructure issues.

“It’s an absolute privilege to be elected as a member of RICS, and I really appreciate the recognition of my specialist practice,” says Matthew. “RICS does great work to promote the highest professional standards, which will be even more important as we all seek to navigate our way through the ‘new normal’ and the recovery phase after COVID-19. The real estate and infrastructure sectors will continue to be vitally important, and I am looking forward to being able to support clients and organisations during these difficult times. I’m excited about this new chapter and to the opportunity to share knowledge and expertise. Chartered Surveyors will play a leading role in this important work.”

Matthew’s election is further recognition of Dentons Kensington Swan’s market-leading infrastructure practice, which spans real estate, construction and major projects, and environment and planning.
