Dentons Shanghai office cooperates with Iranian Chamber of Commerce in Shanghai to hold a Sino-Iranian legal seminar

On the afternoon of November 9, 2018, team of Mr. Wang Ya, senior partner of Dentons Shanghai office, cooperated with the Iranian Chamber of Commerce in Shanghai to hold a Sino-Iranian economic and trade law seminar for Chinese and Iranian legal and business circles.

A total of more than 60 people attended the seminar, including Mr. Ali Reza Irvash, Consul General of the Consulate General of the Islamic Republic of Iran in Shanghai. First of all, Mr. Ali Reza Irvash delivered a speech at the seminar, congratulating the successful opening of the first Shanghai Expo, and expressing his good will of seizing the opportunity to promote the economic and trade cooperation between China and Iran.

On behalf of the Chinese side, Mr. Wang Ya delivered a speech at the seminar, also stating that the Shanghai Expo will provide a new platform and opportunity for Sino-Iran trade cooperation.

Then, associates Sun Weilin and Wang Yongling from Dentons Shanghai office made legal sharing on China's tax compliance and judicial system which are the key issues in China-Iran trade; Likewise, Iranian speakers Mr. Mohammad Reza Goli and Mr. Saeid Shabani also discussed the issue of avoiding double taxation from the Iran perspective and introduced Iran's judicial system respectively. After Mr. Alireza Ramazanifard, Vice Chairman of the Iran Chamber of Commerce, introduced the laws related to investment in Iran and relevant policies of the Free Trade Zone, and Mr. Wang Jianhua, Chairman of Xiong Bo (Shanghai) Business Consulting Co., Ltd. discussed and analyzed how China and Iran should conduct efficient communication under the new opportunities from a commercial perspective.

After the seminar, the participants said that they had learned a lot, and hoped that more activities of this type could be held in the future to reduce the communication costs of China-Iran trade and investment and further deepen Sino-Iranian cooperation.
