After more than one year's preparation, on November 5, the inaugural China International Import Expo was held in the national Exhibition and Convention Center (Shanghai). The expo was a 6-day event.

In order to serve and safeguard the smooth running of the expo, and provide legal service guarantee for the participating foreign companies, the Shanghai Municipal Bureau of Justice issued the "Action Plan for Legal Service Guarantee for the Inaugural China International Import Expo", which clarified the service list, service subjects and how to access the services, including setting up a team of lawyers for foreign-related affairs. 4 lawyers from Dentons Shanghai office were selected to join this legal service team.

A total of 172 countries, regions and international organizations participated in the expo, and more than 3,600 companies participated in the exhibition. The total exhibition area was more than 300,000 m2, and more than 400,000 domestic and foreign purchasers attended the expo to negotiate purchases. This reflected Chinese government's firm support to the multilateral trading system and the development of trade liberalization, and practical action for making the world economy more open and supporting economic globalization.
