Fresh election for Beijing Association for Members of the Emerging Social Strata (BAMESS) took place on August 27. Peng Xuefeng, chair of Dentons China, was chosen as BAMESS’ honorary chair.
Section for Emerging Social Strata at the Beijing United Front Work Department explained that BAMESS’ current 215 members cover pretty much the entire spectrum of Beijing’s emerging social class, and are all prominent, influential figures in their fields.
Before the election took place, the membership listened to the report of work by the previous leadership. Yan Wangjia, CPPCC member and CEO of Venus Tech, toke on the role of the chair, while Yan Weiqun, deputy head of Beijing United Front Work Department was appointed as the standing deputy chair. Dentons China’s very own Mr. Peng was selected as the honorary chair.
Qi Jing, member of the Beijing CPC standing committee and head of Beijing United Front Work Department, pointed out there are more than 3 million people who can be classified as the emerging social class in Beijing, and are the main driving force of the economic and social development.
As a legal professional, Mr. Peng will be able to play a unique part in modernizing the capital and contributing to innovation.
