Dacheng Advises BHC International Wine Assets Management (Beijing) Co., Ltd. on Acquisition of France’s Château La Bastide

On January 20, 2015, BHC International Wine Assets Management (Beijing) Co., Ltd. (“BHC”) signed a formal agreement with Château La Bastide in Montpellier, France, on the acquisition of the Château. BHC was advised by a team led by Beijing-based senior partner Shi Wanlin.

BHC International Wine Assets Management (Beijing) Co., Ltd. is a professional investor in wine. Mr. Yu Min, chairman of the company, has more than 15 years’ experience in wine tasting, purchase and sale. The Dacheng team led by senior partner Shi Wanlin fully participated in the acquisition which laid a solid foundation for BHC’s strategic transformation and expansion into the world market.

The acquisition in question was the first step of BHC’s ambition to enter the European market. Later, it would set up private funds to acquire another dozen chateaus in France, Germany and other European countries.

Château La Bastide, covering 200 hectares and more, is located in the Languedoc-Roussillon district. The quality wine produced by this chateau is pursued by a large number of Chinese investors. Thanks to the Dacheng attorneys, the investors were able to gain a firm foothold quickly in Europe. The acquisition in question was widely reported by French media.

As the project required both PRC law and French law advice, it was advised by a team composed of attorneys from a number of law firms under Dacheng’s Global Legal Services Network. The advantages the Network helps bring for its “going-out” endeavor are highly recognized and commended by the client.
