Guangzhou Office Advises on Formation of Guangzhou Sino-Israeli Biotech Industry Venture Investment Fund (Tentative)

Attorneys Jiang Bin and Zhang Suixia from Dacheng’s Guangzhou office recently advised on the formation of Guangzhou Sino-Israeli Biotech Industry Venture Investment Fund. They participated in negotiations with the Israeli party, reviewed transactional structure, improved on the partnership agreement, and issued attorneys’ opinion on the partnership agreement. 

Guangzhou is one of the four regions designated for China and Israel to conduct cooperation in hi-tech industries. Bio-tech industry, of which Israel boasts tremendous competitive strength, is an important “strategic, emerging industry” in Guangzhou. To speed up Sino-Israeli cooperation, Guangzhou Industrial Investment Fund Management Co., Ltd., founded by the municipal government of Guangzhou, joined hands with Guangzhou International Biotech Island Technology Investment and Development Co., Ltd. in setting up Guangzhou Sino-Israeli Biotech Industry Venture Investment Fund, in a bid to introduce from Israel advanced life science and technology and cooperate in a comprehensive, in-depth manner in aspects such as talent, technology, capital and services. The goal would be to develop a sound, sustainable industry chain in Guangzhou’s bio-tech sector that begins with bringing in Israeli technology, and incubating the technology in Guangzhou International Biotech Island and “made in China”, and ends with promoting the products in a world-wide basis.
